About PvF

Poppy von Frohlich is a small clothing and home décor company in San Francsico, CA, owned and operated by me, Trudy.  I design for a Northern California lifestyle; foggy coastal trail jaunts, redwood journeys, farmer’s market shopping, whale watching outings, picnics and child chasing adventures.  

I have a degree in Fashion Design and after graduating I spent ten years nurturing my serious passion for pattern drafting and sewing as a freelancer for other small, local fashion and interior design companies.  The birth of my daughter in 2010 instilled the courage for me to make the move from freelancer to small business owner featuring my own designs.  I currently operate Poppy von Frohlich from my home while being a full time mom.  I design wool coats in the winter, cotton coats and dresses in the summer and pretty little thing for the home all year long. 

My business model is very unconventional; every six weeks I design a new item and sew a sample of that item.  I then post that sample on my website, I have a limited number of how many of that  design I will produce. Some items are made in local sewing factories and some are made to order by me in my home studio.  Everything is made in San Francsico, California, USA!

Every design is draped and patterned by me.  All the samples are sewn in my in-home studio and I do multiple fittings to make sure the designs are perfect. 


Some very important facts to know
1. Some designs are in stock others are a pre-order.  Each description will clarify if the item is in-stock or has a wait time.
2. PvF works with a limited fabric run and a limited inventory so it is very important to take your measurements before placing your order. Please refer to our size chart page, if after checking our size chart page and you still have a question about fit please email trudy@poppyvonfrohlich.com.  In the event that your clothing does not fit we offer store credit and in some cases a refund.  Please refer to our return policies for further information. 
3. We currently ship to all 50 states in the USA, Canada, Europe and Japan.  Taxes and shipping rates are applied at time of check out.

I live in San Francisco, CA with my husband Aaron and our 2 year old Madeleine.  We have been married for 10 years, we met in 1999 while taking an art class in Berkeley, CA.  He is a painter and tattooer and my number one cheerleader.  I am a full time stay at home mom while operating PvF. 

Poppy von Frohlich loosely translate into 'From happy California', Frohlich also happens to be my maiden name and is 'happy' in German.  Poppy is the California state flower and is also what we call our beloved grandfather.  Put it all together and you have PvF.
